If you’ve arrived here, you may be navigating new information about your baby or child’s hearing. Whether this is a recent diagnosis, you are still in the testing process, or you’ve been on this path for a while and are looking for connection and support—welcome.
New Mexico Hands & Voices (NMHV) is a family-led nonprofit supporting parents and caregivers of children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. We partner with Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults and professionals who share a common belief: the best decisions are the ones that fit your child and your family.
New Mexico is a large and diverse state, and many families live in rural or remote areas. Because of that, we focus on building strong connections across distance—bringing support to families through outreach, virtual connection, and personal contact so that geography is never a barrier to help or understanding.
Through our Guide By Your Side (GBYS) program, families can connect with trained Parent Guides who provide one-on-one support. We are available by phone or email, and we offer support in both English and Spanish.
We also host GBYS events throughout the year, creating opportunities for families to meet, share experiences, and build community with others on similar journeys.
You can connect with NMHV through this website, as well as on Facebook and Instagram, where we share resources, updates, and community information.
No matter where you are in your journey, you are not alone. You are the right person for your child, and NMHV is here to walk alongside you.
